Use: Medicinal

Properties: Astringent and slightly bitter*; cold*.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and resolves toxin; soothes the sinews and quickens the blood; disperses swelling and relieves pain. Treats influenza; venomous snake and rabid dog bites; wind-damp numbness and tingling; injury from knocks and falls; menstrual irregularities; toxin swellings.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (12–18g) or steep in wine. Topical: Apply crushed or grind and sprinkle on affected area.
