Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter, and astringent; cold.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and resolves toxin; quickens the blood and soothes the sinews. Treats clouded spirit due to high fever; pulmonary consumption cough; burns and scalds; scrofula; toxin swelling in welling-abscesses (yōng) and boils; injury from knocks and falls; wind-damp impediment (fēng shī bì) pain; menstrual irregularities.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g). Topical: Grind and apply mixed.
