Use: Medicinal

Properties: Sour, bitter, and slightly acrid; cold; nontoxic*.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and resolves toxin; quickens the blood and disperses swelling. Treats dysentery; vaginal discharge; blood-heat headache; flooding and spotting; amenorrhea; mammary welling-abscesses (rǔ yōng); sores and boils; injury from knocks and falls.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g dried, 15–30g fresh). Topical: Apply crushed.
