Pine bark

松木皮 〔松木皮〕 sōng mù pí

Use: Medicinal

Actions and indications: Eliminates wind, overcomes dampness, dispels stasis, and closes sores. Treats wind-damp bone pain; injury from knocks and falls; intestinal wind bleeding; enduring dysentery; persistent welling- and flat-abscesses (yōng jū); incised wounds; burns and scalds.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g) or grind to a powder. Topical: Apply ground to a powder or decoct as a wash.
