Actions and indications:
- Quickens the blood, supplements the blood, and regulates menstruation: Painful menstruation, amenorrhea, menstrual irregularities, and postpartum stasis obstruction abdominal pain.
- Soothes the sinews and quickens the network vessels: Numbness or paralysis of the limbs; wind-damp impediment pain. Owing to confusion in the marketplace, Dà xuè téng (大血藤 Sargentodoxae Caulis, sargentodoxa [stem]) is commonly sold as jī xuè téng. For this reason, care must be taken to purchase this medicinal from suppliers that are aware of proper identification issues.
Dosage and method: Oral: 10–30g in decoctions. It may also be prepared as a medicinal liquor or decocted down into a paste.
