Properties: Acrid, bitter; warm.
Channel entry: Liver, spleen, stomach, and lung channels.
Indications:
- Courses the liver and resolves depression, rectifies qì and harmonizes the center: Liver depression and qì stagnation manifesting in rib-side pain and oppression in the chest; spleen-stomach qì stagnation with distension and fullness in the stomach duct and abdomen, stomach pain and torpid intake (reduced eating marked by a tendency to eat less because eating causes fullness), belching, and vomiting.
- Dries dampness and transforms phlegm: Cough with copious phlegm.
Dosage & Method: Oral: 3–10g in decoctions.
Quality: Dried slices should be large with green skin, white flesh, and a strong aroma.
