Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter; warm.

Channel entry: Lung and kidney channels.

Actions and indications: Warms the center; astringes the intestine; stanches bleeding, and closes sores. Treats stomach reflux; diarrhea and dysentery; vomiting of blood (blood ejection); nosebleed (nǜ xuè); ulceration of the eyelid rim; shank sores.

Dosage and method: Oral: Used in pills and powders (4.5–9g). Topical: Grind to a powder and either sprinkle on or apply mixed.
