羊胆 〔羊膽〕 yáng dǎn

Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter; cold.

Channel entry: Liver, gallbladder, and stomach channels.

Actions and indications: Clears fire; brightens the eyes; resolves toxin. Treats wind-heat red eye; clear-eye blindness; eye screens; pulmonary consumption; vomiting of blood (blood ejection); swollen throat; jaundice; constipation; heat toxin sores.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (0.3–0.6g). Topical: Apply to the affected area; use in eye drops or enemas.
