Properties: Acrid, bitter, and salty; cold.

Channel entry: stomach and large intestine channels.

Indications:

Drains heat and frees the stool; moistens dryness and softens hardness; clears heat and resolves toxin. Softer in substance but has the same actions as máng xiāo (芒硝 Natrii Sulfas , mirabilite;).

repletion heat accumulation with abdominal distension and constipation; phlegm accumulation; sore red eyes; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng).

Dosage & Method:

Mostly used topically.
