Actions and indications: Stanches bleeding and eliminates stasis; clears heat and resolves toxin. Treats vomiting of blood (blood ejection); bloody stool; bleeding from external injury; sprains; swollen boils; sore throat.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (3–9g dried, 30–60g fresh) or grind to a powder. Topical: Apply crushed or grind to a powder and sprinkle on the affected area.
