Ingredients:
- Hòu pò (厚朴 Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, officinal magnolia bark) (mix-fried) 10g
- Shēng jiāng (生姜 Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, fresh ginger) 10g
- Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]) (washed) 10g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried) 5g
- Rén shēn (人参 Ginseng Radix, ginseng) (or Dǎng shēn (党参 Codonopsis Radix, codonopsis [root])) 5g
Action: Fortifies the spleen and boosts the stomach; loosens the center and disperses fullness.
Indication: Spleen-vacuity qì stagnation manifesting in the form of fullness of varying intensity in the stomach duct and abdomen, torpid intake, fatigued limbs and spirit. Tongue: Pale with slimy white fur. Pulse: Moderate and soggy.

Method: Decoct with water.
Rationale: Hòu pò is warm, bitter, and aromatic; it moves qì and eliminates fullness. Bàn xià is and acrid opening agent that disperses binds, loosens the center, and disperses glomus. These who agents combined both moth and downbear qì to eliminate the stagnation and fullness. Because the formula was originally intended for patterns resulting from inappropriate sweating treatment, Rén shēn and Zhì gān cǎo are added to supplement the spleen and harmonize the stomach, while Shēng jiāng is added both to stimulate spleen yáng and to moderate the toxin of Bàn xià.
