Source: Zhèng Zhì Zhǔn Shéng 证治准绳

Ingredients

• Bǔ gǔ zhī (补骨脂 Psoraleae Fructus, psoralea [fruit]) 120g
• Ròu dòu kòu (肉豆蔻 Myristicae Semen, nutmeg) 60g
• Xiǎo huí xiāng (小茴香 Foeniculi Fructus, fennel [fruit]) 30g
• Mù xiāng (木香 Aucklandiae Radix, costusroot) 15g

Actions: Supplements the kidney and assists yáng; regulates spleen qì and checks diarrhea.

Indications: Chronic diarrhea or fifth-watch diarrhea (daybreak diarrhea) due to spleen-kidney vacuity cold with center qì stagnation. The indications are thus similar to those of sishenwan, but this formula addresses more severe abdominal pain.

Method: Grind to a fine powder, blend with a decoction of 80 gr ginger and 60 gr jujubes, and form into 300 mg pills.
