Bupleurum Dryness-Clearing Decoction
柴胡清燥汤 〔柴胡清燥湯〕 chái hú qīng zào tāng

Ingredients
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 6–12g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 4.5–9g
- Chén pí (陈皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, tangerine peel) 6–9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried) 3–6g
- Tiān huā fěn (天花粉 Trichosanthis Radix, trichosanthes root) 9–12g
- Zhī mǔ (知母 Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, anemarrhena [root]) 9–12g
- Jiāng zhī (姜汁 Zingiberis Rhizomatis Succus, ginger juice) 2–4 slices
- Zhǐ jù zǐ (枳椇子 Hoveniae Fructus seu Semen, honey tree fruit) 4–6 pieces
Actions: Harmonizes the lesser yáng (shào yáng), clears heat, and engenders liquid.
Indications: Incorrect treatment of heat entering membrane source (mò yuán) that fails to clear the heat and allows damage to liquid.
Method: Decoct with water.
