Bupleurum Liver-Clearing Powder
柴胡清肝散 〔柴胡清肝散〕 chái hú qīng gān sǎn

Ingredients
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root])
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root])
- Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root])
- Zhī zǐ (栀子 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit])
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica)
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome])
- Shēng dì huáng (生地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Exsiccata seu Recens, dried/fresh rehmannia [root])
- Shēng má (升麻 Cimicifugae Rhizoma, cimicifuga [root])
- Mǔ dān pí (牡丹皮 Moutan Cortex, moutan [bark])
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root])
Actions: Clears the liver and drains fire; cool the blood and stanches bleeding.
Indications: Depressed liver-gallbladder fire causing frenetic movement of hot blood characterized by red eyes, irascibility, rib-side pain, heat effusion and aversion to cold, deafness and bleeding ears, flooding and spotting and sores.
