Cài Sōng-Dīng's Difficult Delivery Formula
蔡松汀难产方 〔蔡松汀難產方〕cài sōng dīng nán chǎn fāng

Ingredients:
- Huáng qí (黄芪 Astragali Radix, astragalus [root]) (mix-fried with honey)
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica)
- Fú shén (茯神 Poria cum Pini Radice , root poria)
- Dǎng shēn (党参 Codonopsis Radix, codonopsis [root])
- Guī bǎn (龟版 Testudinis Plastrum, tortoise plastron) (mix-fried with vinegar)
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome])
- Bái sháo (白芍 Paeoniae Radix Alba, white peony [root]) (stir-fried with wine)
- Gǒu qǐ zǐ (枸杞子 Lycii Fructus, lycium [berry])
Action: Greatly boosts qì and blood.

Method: Decoct in water. Only use the first boiling; quaff.
Rationale: Huáng qí and Dǎng shēn greatly supplement original qì. Dāng guī, Bái sháo, and Chuān xiōng nourish and quicken the blood. Fú shén fortifies the spleen and quiets the heart. Gǒu qǐ zǐ supplements the liver and kidney. Guī bǎn replenishes essence and supplements the blood, moistening the fetus to hasten delivery.
