Worm-Transforming Pill2

Ingredients
- Hè shī (鹤虱 Carpesii Fructus, carpesium seed) 1500g
- Dà fù pí (大腹皮 Arecae Pericarpium, areca husk) 1500g
- Kǔ liàn gēn pí (苦楝根皮 Meliae Radicis Cortex, chinaberry root bark) 1500g
- Qiān fěn (铅粉 Galenitum Praeparatum, processed galenite) (stir-fried) 1500g
- Kū fán (枯矾 Alumen Dishydratum, calcined alum) 375g
- Wú yí (芜荑 Ulmi Fructus Praeparatio, elm cake) 750g
- Shǐ jūn zǐ (使君子 Quisqualis Fructus, quisqualis [fruit]) 750g
Actions: Expels all worms.
Indications: The same as Worm-Transforming Pill (1), but stronger in effect.
Method: Grind and form into pills with flour and water paste. Can also be prepared as a decoction, in which case the prepared galenite should be left out because of its high toxicity.
Rationale: All the ingredients expel worms. Hè shī and Shǐ jūn zǐ are effective for roundworm. Kǔ liàn pí is effective for roundworm, pinworm, and tapeworm. Bīng láng is effective for tapeworm, roundworm, and hookworm. Qiān fěn is poisonous. It can be used in smaller amounts than suggested, or omitted from the formula altogether. Commercial preparations labeled as huà chóng wán usually do not contain Qiān fěn and Kū fán, and have added Mǎ bó, Dà huáng), Xuán míng fěn, and Qiān niú zǐ.
