Mulberry Paste

文武膏 〔文武膏〕 wén wǔ gāo

Alternate Chinese names: Sāng shèn zǐ gāo (桑椹子膏 Mulberry Paste)

Ingredients

Actions: Supplements the liver and kidney; nourishes the blood and moistens dryness.

Indications: Liver-kidney insufficiency with clouded head and flowery vision, and premature graying of the hair; blood vacuity and lack of liquid in old age, causing dry bound stool.

Method: The Chinese name wén wǔ 文武, literally civil and martial, derives from wén wǔ shí 文武实, civil and martial fruit, which is an alternate name for the fruit of the mulberry.
