Alternate Chinese names: Gù běn wán (固本丸 Root-Securing Pill)

Ingredients

• Shēng dì huáng (生地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Exsiccata seu Recens, dried/fresh rehmannia [root])
• Shú dì huáng (熟地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, cooked rehmannia [root])
• Tiān dōng (天冬 Asparagi Radix, asparagus [root])
• Mài dōng (麦冬 Ophiopogonis Radix, ophiopogon [root])
• Sān qī (三七 Notoginseng Radix, notoginseng [root])

Actions: Boosts qì and nourishes yīn.

Indications: Vacuity taxation with depletion of both qì and yīn, characterized by emaciation, shortness of breath, night sweating, cough and counterflow, and dispersion-thirst (xiāo kě). Tongue: Red and in some cases smooth and furless. Pulse: Fine, soft, and forceless.
