Clear Sky Powder
清空散 〔清空散〕 qīng kōng sǎn

Ingredients
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]) 15g
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 21g
- Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root]) (stir-fried) 30g
- Fáng fēng (防风 Saposhnikoviae Radix, saposhnikovia) 30g
- Qiāng huó (羌活 Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, notopterygium [root]) 30g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried) 15g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) (half stir-fried, half process with wine) 60g
- Zhī zǐ (栀子 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit]) 45.g
Indications: Headache (hemilateral or ambilateral); thunder head wind.
Method: Grind to a fine powder. The powder is blended a paste with hot wind and a little tea just before use.
Dosage: 3g at a time made into a paste, rubbed inside mouth, and then swallow with warm water before bed.
Variations:

headache : Add 6 gr of Xì xīn (细辛 Asari Rhizoma et Radix, asarum). Phlegm reversal headache : Add 45 gr each of Qiāng huó (羌活 Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, notopterygium [root]), Fáng fēng (防风 Saposhnikoviae Radix, saposhnikovia), Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]), Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]), and Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]).Hemilateral headache that fails to be cured: Reduce the Qiāng huó (羌活 Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, notopterygium [root]), Fáng fēng (防风 Saposhnikoviae Radix, saposhnikovia), and Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]), and double the Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]).
