Thunder head wind

雷头风 〔雷頭風〕léi tóu fēng

A disease characterized by lumps and swellings of the head and face, sometimes accompanied by abhorrence of cold and vigorous heat [effusion] or by headache, and with a sound of thunder in the head. Thunder head wind is attributed to wind evil assailing from outside or to phlegm-heat engendering wind.

Medicinal therapy: Treat by clearing, diffusing, upbearing, and dispersing, using Clearing Invigoration Decoction (清震汤 qīng zhèn tāng). When due to phlegm-heat, it can be treated with Phlegm-Expelling Pill (祛痰丸 qū tán wán). If there is abhorrence of cold and vigorous heat [effusion], Schizonepeta and Saposhnikovia Toxin-Vanquishing Powder (荆防败毒散 jīng fáng bài dú sǎn) can be used.

See headache.
