Impediment-Alleviating Decoction1

蠲痹汤1 〔蠲痺湯1〕 juān bì tāng1

Ingredients

Actions: Dispels wind-damp and relieves impediment () pain.

Indications: Wind-cold-damp impediment (fēng hán shī bì) with pain in the limb joints relieved by warmth and exacerbated by cold, and sometimes associated with heaviness and numbness and tingling.

Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: Qiāng huó, Dú huó, Guì zhī, Qín jiāo, kadsura stem, and mulberry branch dispel wind and dampness. They are supported by Dāng guī, Chuān xiōng, Mù xiāng, and Rǔ xiāng, which rectify qì, quicken the blood, and relieve pain. Gān cǎo harmonizes all the agents of the formula.
