2.Malaria attributed to water-damp collecting internally after exposure to rain or dew. Damp malaria is characterized by aversion to cold with unpronounced heat effusion, generalized pain, heavy limbs, oppression in the stomach duct, nausea and retching, swollen face, scant urine, white slimy tongue fur, and soggy rapid pulse.
Medicinal therapy: Resolve the exterior and eliminate dampness. Use formulas such as Bupleurum Stomach-Calming Brew (柴平煎chái píng jiān), Stomach-Calming Poria Five Decoction (胃苓汤wèi líng tāng), or Atractylodes White Tiger Decoction (苍朮白虎汤cāng zhú bái hǔ tāng) plus tsaoko (Tsaoko Fructus, 草果cǎo guǒ).
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GV, PC, SI, SP, and ST. Select GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), PC-5 (Intermediary Courier, 间使 jiān shǐ), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn). Needle with even supplementation and drainage and, if appropriate, moxa. See malaria for principles and methods of treatment.
