Wind taxation

风劳 〔風勞〕fēng láo

Vacuity taxation disease with repeated contraction of wind evil. The Wings of the Golden Cabinet (金匮翼 jīn guì yì, fēng láo) states, Wind taxation patterns are characterized by steaming flesh and bone heat effusion, alternating heat and cold, phlegm cough, night sweating, parched body hair, bad breath... The Great Peace Sagacious Benevolence Formulary (太平圣惠方 tài píng shèng huì fāng) states, In people with taxation damage, the interior and exterior are mostly vacuous, qì and blood are debilitated, and the interstices of the skin are loose and leaky, easily allowing wind evil to invade, which then either wanders through the skin or sinks to cause stagnation in the bowels and viscera, giving rise to a variety of different illnesses depending on the place affected. If the body is weak and there is reduced food intake, emaciation, inhibition of the sinews, pain in the hands and feet, then formulas such as Saposhnikovia Powder (防风散 fáng fēng sǎn) can be used. If qì and blood are insufficient and the bowels and viscera are vacuous and damaged, and the patient has vexing pain in the joints, lack of strength in the lumbus and knees, emaciation, a withered-yellow facial complexion, frequent voidings of copious urine, and night sweating as soon as he sleeps, formulas such as Large Gentian and Turtle Shell Powder (秦艽鳖甲散 qín jiāo biē jiǎ sǎn) can be used.
