White patch wind

白癜风 〔白癜風〕bái diàn fēng

Also white patch. White patches on the skin attributed to disharmony of the blood arising when wind evil assails the exterior, causing the interstices to lose their tightness. White patch wind is most common in youth and the prime of life. It is characterized by creamy white macules of varying size, clearly distinguishable from the normal skin coloring. Any hair growing in the patches also turns white. Some of the patches have a brown or pale red papule in the center. The condition is associated with neither pain nor itching. It is of gradual onset, and often persists for a long period.

Biomedical correspondence: vitiligo.

Medicinal therapy: Dispel wind and overcome dampness; quicken the blood and rectify qì. Take White Patch Tablet (白驳片 bái bó piàn) orally, and apply Psoralea Tincture (补骨脂酊 bǔ gǔ zhī dīng) topically.

Acumoxatherapy: The following two methods should be used in tandem.

  1. Select ouch points (阿是穴 ā shì xué) as the main points, and tap lightly with a cutaneous needle and pole for 30 minutes once every other day.
  2. Select distant points on the affected area: For the face, add LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ). For the chest, add PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān) and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ). For the abdomen, add SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo). For the lumbus and back, add BL-40 (Bend Center, 委中 wěi zhōng). Needle with even supplementation and drainage.
