Warming and supplementing the life gate

温补命门 〔溫補命門〕wēn bǔ mìng mén

Also warming and supplementing kidney yáng; warming the kidney; warming the water viscus. A method of treatment used to restore (spleen and) kidney yáng qì in the treatment of insufficiency of the life gate fire with early morning diarrhea, abdominal pain and rumbling intestines, cold limbs, pale tongue with white fur, and slow sunken pulse.

Medicinal therapy: The method of warming and supplementing the life gate employs yáng-invigorating fire-supplementing medicinals. Appropriate formulas include Four Spirits Pill (四神丸 sì shén wán) and Right-Restoring [Life Gate] Pill (右归丸 yòu guī wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on KI, GV, back transport points, and CV. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), and KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī); needle with supplementation and add moxa.
