One of the twelve kinds of formula. An example of an upbearing formula is Center-Supplementing Qì-Boosting Decoction (补中益气汤 bǔ zhōng yì qì tāng), which contains, among others, the upbearing medicinals cimicifuga (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 升麻 shēng má) and bupleurum (Bupleuri Radix, 柴胡 chái hú) and treats prolapse of the rectum or vagina due to center qì fall.
