Upcast eyes

戴眼 〔戴眼〕dài yǎn

A condition in which both eyes are fixed in an upturned direction; observed in greater yáng (tài yáng) expiration patterns. Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn, zhěn yào jīng zhōng lùn) states, The greater yáng (tài yáng) vessel reaches its end with upcast eyes, arching [of the back], and tugging and slackening. It is also seen in child fright reversal and reverting yīn (jué yīn) wind-phlegm obstruction patterns.

Etymology

Chindài, to wear on the head; to look upward; 眼 yǎn, eye.
