Strengthening yīn
强阴 〔強陰〕qiáng yīn
A method of treatment used to supplement yīn essence. Yīn-strengthening medicinals include cooked rehmannia (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 熟地黄 shú dì huáng), dried/fresh rehmannia (Rehmanniae Radix, 生地黄 shēng dì huáng), lycium berry (Lycii Fructus, 枸杞子 gǒu qǐ zǐ), ligustrum (Ligustri Lucidi Fructus, 女贞子 nǚ zhēn zǐ), and complanate astragalus seed (Astragali Complanati Semen, 沙苑子 shā yuàn zǐ), which treat kidney yīn vacuity with aching lumbus, seminal emission, and copious urine.
Acumoxatherapy: Yīn-strengthening points include BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), BL-52 (Will Chamber, 志室 zhì shì), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo); needle with supplementation. Compare supplementing yīn; consolidating yīn.
