Spleen-stomach yáng vacuity

脾胃阳虚 〔脾胃陽虛〕pí wèi yáng xū

Also devitalized center yáng; insufficiency of center yáng. Vacuity of spleen-stomach yáng qì of the center burner with poor digestion. Signs include reduced food intake, vomiting, diarrhea, cold limbs, fatigue, withered-yellow facial complexion, dizziness, pale tongue, soft enlarged tongue, thick turbid tongue fur, and a large vacuous pulse.

Comparison: Spleen-stomach yáng vacuity differs from stomach vacuity cold by the presence of diarrhea, which is a spleen sign. It differs from spleen yáng vacuity by the presence of vomiting, which is a stomach sign.

Medicinal therapy: Treat by warming and moving center yáng. Use Center-Rectifying Decoction (理中汤 lǐ zhōng tāng) or Officinal Magnolia Bark Center-Warming Decoction (厚朴温中汤 hòu pò wēn zhōng tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on SP, ST, CV, and back transport points. Select BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), BL-21 (Stomach Transport, 胃俞 wèi shù), CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), LR-13 (Camphorwood Gate, 章门 zhāng mén), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān); needle with supplementation and add moxa. Cross moxa and the five pillar points can also be used.
