Qì-blood vacuity menstrual pain

气血虚弱痛经 〔氣血虛弱痛經〕qì xuè xū ruò tòng jīng

Continual unabating pain in the smaller abdomen when insufficiency of qì and blood has been exacerbated by menstruation. The pain likes warmth and pressure and the menstrual flow is scant, thin, and pale.

Medicinal therapy: Supplement qì and nourish the blood; support the spleen and relieve pain. Use Chinese Angelica Center-Fortifying Decoction (当归建中汤 dāng guī jiàn zhōng tāng) or brown sugar steamed with fresh ginger.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, back transport points, SP, and ST. Select CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng); needle with supplementation and add moxa.
