Promoting absorption of qì by the kidney

摄纳肾气 〔攝納腎氣〕shè nà shèn qì

A method of treatment that addresses kidney failing to absorb qì (failure of the kidney to ensure the absorption of qì through the lung) characterized by short rapid breathing, panting at the slightest exertion, vacuity sweating, cold limbs, a bright-white or dark green-blue complexion, or upbearing fire flush, and a fine sunken pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Kidney-supplementing medicinals such as aconite (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, 附子 fù zǐ), cinnamon bark (Cinnamomi Cortex, 肉桂 ròu guì), cooked rehmannia (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 熟地黄 shú dì huáng), cornus (Corni Fructus, 山茱萸 shān zhū yú), walnut (Juglandis Semen, 胡桃仁 hú táo rén), and gecko (Gecko, 蛤蚧 gé jiè) are combined with heavy settlers that promote kidney absorption such as fluorite (Amethystum seu Fluoritum, 紫石英 zǐ shí yīng), stalactite (Stalactitum, 钟乳石 zhōng rǔ shí), and galenite (Galenitum, qiān) are used. A representative formula is Galenite Elixir (黑锡丹 hēi xí dān).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on KI, CV, GV, and BL. Select CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), BL-43 (Gāo-Huāng Transport, 膏肓俞 gāo huāng shù), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), LU-9 (Great Abyss, 太渊 tài yuān), and CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi); needle with supplementation and add moxa.
