Bone erosion

骨蚀 〔骨蝕〕 gǔ shí

A disease characterized by bone pain, atrophy of the muscles, shrinking of the affected limb, and limping gait. Bone erosion arises when evils entering the body in the presence of vacuity or damage to the sinew and bone causes stagnation of qì and blood and obstruction of the channels.

Medicinal therapy: Treat with oral formulas such as Harmonious Yáng Decoction (阳和汤 yáng hé tāng) or Golden Cabinet Kidney Qì Pill (金匮肾气丸 jīn guì shèn qì wán) and topical application of Harmonious Yáng Decongealing Plaster (阳和解凝膏 yáng hé jiě níng gāo).

Biomedical correspondence: epiphysitis; osteochondritis.
