Moving qì rib-side pain

运气胁痛 〔運氣脅痛〕yùn qì xié tòng

Rib-side pain caused by epidemic pestilential qì (moving qi). It is of sudden onset and is associated with fulminant heat effusion and aversion to cold. There is stabbing pain in either or both rib-sides. Other signs include generalized distension and rapid stringlike pulse. If accompanied by reverse flow of the limbs (severe counterflow cold), the condition is dangerous.

Medicinal therapy: Clear, resolve and outthrust evil. Use Green-Blue–Draining Half-and-Half Decoction (泻清各半汤 xiè qīng gè bàn tāng).
