Lung yáng vacuity

肺阳虚 〔肺陽虛〕 fèi yáng xū

A disease pattern that arises when enduring cough damages lung qì, and detriment to qì affects yáng, or when lung qì is damaged in patients usually suffering from yáng vacuity; lung qì vacuity with cold signs. Lung yáng vacuity is characterized by forceless cough and panting, bright-white facial complexion, and physical cold and cold limbs. This pattern is not mentioned in modern textbooks.

Medicinal therapy: Warm and supplement lung yáng. Use Licorice and Dried Ginger Decoction (甘草干姜汤 gān cǎo gān jiāng tāng) or Poria, Licorice, Schisandra, Ginger, and Asarum Decoction (苓甘五味姜辛汤 líng gān wǔ wèi jiāng xīn tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Use the same points as for lung qì vacuity, and use large amounts of moxa.
