Liver distension

肝胀 〔肝脹〕 gān zhàng

1. Rib-side fullness and distension with pain stretching into the lower abdomen. Liver distension is usually caused by cold affecting the liver channel and is treated by coursing the liver and dispersing cold.

Medicinal therapy: Use Liver-Warming Brew (暖肝煎 nuǎn gān jiān).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LR, PC, and CV. Select LR-14 (Cycle Gate, 期门 qī mén), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), GB-34 (Yáng Mound Spring, 阳陵泉 yáng líng quán), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and LR-1 (Large Pile, 大敦 dà dūn); needle with even supplementation and drainage and moxa. For lower abdominal pain, add GB-40 (Hill Ruins, 丘墟 qiū xū), and LR-5 (Woodworm Canal, 蠡沟 lǐ gōu),

2. The same signs occurring in distension disease.
