Blood pouring into the pupil spirit

血灌瞳神 〔血灌瞳神〕xuè guàn tóng shén

A condition characterized by a blood spot in the pupil that obstructs vision. Blood pouring into the pupil spirit may result from exuberant liver-gallbladder heat or yīn vacuity fire flaming upward and causing frenetic movement of hot blood. It may also result from external injury or surgery.

Medicinal therapy: Clear heat and cool the blood with Rhinoceros Horn and Rehmannia Decoction (犀角地黄汤 xī jiǎo dì huáng tāng) and variations, by enriching yīn and downbearing fire with Anemarrhena, Phellodendron, and Rehmannia Pill (知柏地黄丸 zhī bǎi dì huáng wán), or by clearing heat, cooling the blood, and dispersing stasis with Rhubarb and Chinese Angelica Powder (大黄当归散 dà huáng dāng guī sǎn).
