Kidney fixity

肾着 〔腎著〕 shèn zhuó

Cold pain and heaviness in the lumbar region that prevents normal turning and exacerbated by yīn-type (dull wet) weather; it is attributable to kidney vacuity cold-damp becoming fixed in the inner body.

Medicinal therapy: Use Kidney Fixity Decoction (肾着汤 shèn zhuó tāng) or Lumbus-Lightening Decoction (轻腰汤 qīng yāo tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GV, KI, BL, and SP. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), GV-3 (Lumbar Yáng Pass, 腰阳关 yāo yáng guān), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), BL-40 (Bend Center, 委中 wěi zhōng), ouch points (阿是穴 ā shì xué), GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), and SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán); needle with drainage and use large amounts of moxa.
