Kidney Fixity Decoction

肾着汤 〔腎著湯〕 shèn zhuó tāng

Ingredients

Actions: Warms the spleen, dispels damp, and relieves pain.

Indications: Damage by cold-damp with cold pain and sagging heaviness from the lumbus downwards, absence of thirst, and uninhibited urination. Tongue fur: White.

Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: Gān jiāng warms the channels and disperses cold, warming the spleen rather than the kidney. Bái zhú moves the spleen and dries dampness, and combined with Gān jiāng as warms spleen yáng. Notes: This is Líng guì zhú gān tāng (苓桂朮甘汤 Poria, Cinnamon Twig, White Atractylodes, and Licorice Decoction) with Gān jiāng instead of Gān cǎo.
