Imbalance of activity and inactivity

劳逸不当 〔勞逸不當〕láo yì bù dàng

A key factor in the maintenance of health is a balance between activity and inactivity. Both excessive activity and excessive inactivity can affect health in manifold ways. The Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn) Prolonged vision damages the blood; prolonged lying damages qì; prolonged sitting damages the flesh; prolonged standing damages the bones; and prolonged walking damages the sinews. These are the five forms of taxation damage. The damage that taxation causes to the body is called taxation damage and the general run-down state of the body due to these causes is often called taxation fatigue.
