A method of treatment used to address gastrointestinal disharmony with disrupted upbearing and downbearing and cold-heat complexes presenting with glomus and fullness below the heart, vomiting, rumbling intestines, and diarrhea.
Medicinal therapy: Cold bitter medicinals such as coptis (Coptidis Rhizoma, 黄连huáng lián) and scutellaria (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩huáng qín) are used with warm acrid medicinals such as dried ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 干姜gān jiāng) and pinellia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 半夏bàn xià). The cold bitter medicinals drain heat, while the acrid medicinals disperse glomus, and together have the effect of harmonizing the center burner and restoring normal upbearing and downbearing.
A representative formula for harmonizing the stomach and intestines is Pinellia Heart-Draining Decoction (半夏泻心汤bàn xià xiè xīn tāng).
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on CV and ST. Select CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān). Needle with even supplementation and drainage.
