Bald white scalp sore

白秃疮 〔白禿瘡〕bái tū chuāng

Also white perverse crop; lài scalp sore. A disease of the scalp mostly seen in children and characterized by white crusts that spread and coalesce, and that are associated with unbearable itching and hair loss on the affected area. The hair usually grows back once the sores heal. Bald white scalp sores are attributed to wind evil invading the interstices of the scalp or to the use of unclean hair-dressing implements.

Biomedical correspondence: Tinea alba.

Medicinal therapy: Treat with Chinaberry Root Bark Paste (苦楝膏 kǔ liàn gāo) or Bald Sores Oil (秃疮油 tū chuāng yóu).

Acumoxatherapy: Needle with drainage bilaterally at LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), with supplementation bilaterally at KI-2 (Blazing Valley, 然谷 rán gǔ), and with even supplementation and drainage at BL-18 (Liver Transport, 肝俞 gān shù), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ).
