Expelling stasis

逐瘀 〔逐瘀〕zhú yū

A method of treatment used to address blood amassment and internal static blood binds. It includes:

Medicinal therapy: The principal medicinals used are blood breakers and draining-precipitants such as rhubarb (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄 dà huáng), mirabilite (Natrii Sulfas, 芒硝 máng xiāo), ground beetle (Eupolyphaga seu Steleophaga, 蟅虫 zhè chóng), peach kernel (Persicae Semen, 桃仁 táo rén), carthamus (Carthami Flos, 红花 hóng huā), sparganium (Sparganii Rhizoma, 三棱 sān léng), zedoary (Curcumae Rhizoma, 莪朮 é zhú), and pangolin scales (Manitis Squama, 穿山甲 chuān shān jiǎ). Peach Kernel Qì-Coordinating Decoction (桃核承气汤 táo hé chéng qì tāng) is used for recent static blood formations, and Dead-On Pill (抵当丸 dǐ dàng wán) is used for old formations. In recent times, extrauterine pregnancy has been treated by the method of expelling static blood, using Engendering Transformation Decoction (生化汤 shēng huà tāng) with the addition of rhubarb (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄 dà huáng) and mirabilite (Natrii Sulfas, 芒硝 máng xiāo), or combined with Nine Pains Pill (九痛丸 jiǔ tòng wán).
