Drumskin pulse

革脉 〔革脈〕gé mài

A pulse that is floating and beats against the palpating fingers. A drumskin pulse is hard on the outside and empty in the middle like the skin of a drum. It signifies blood collapse and loss of essence. On Cold Damage (伤寒论 shāng hán lùn) states, Contending cold and vacuity is called drumskin. It is similar to and, according to some, identical with the scallion-stalk pulse.
