Dizziness in pregnancy

妊娠眩晕 〔妊娠眩暈〕rèn shēn xuàn yūn

Dizziness during pregnancy. It is observed in insufficiency of the liver and kidney when the gathering of blood to nourish the fetus in pregnancy exacerbates the yīn vacuity and causes yáng to become hyperactive and harass the clear orifices. Dizziness is accompanied by headache, tinnitus, flowery vision, and vexation and agitation.

Medicinal therapy: Nourish yīn and clear heat; calm the liver and subdue yáng. Use formulas such as All-the-Way-Through Brew (一贯煎 yī guàn jiān) and Lycium Berry, Chrysanthemum, and Rehmannia Pill (杞菊地黄丸 qǐ jú dì huáng wán).
