LI-6 Veering Passageway

偏历 〔偏歷〕piān lì

Channel: LI, Hand Yáng Brightness (yáng míng) Large Intestine Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the dorsoradial aspect of the forearm, on the lateral edge of the radius, 3 cùn proximal to the wrist (LI-5) on the line that connects LI-5 (chǐ zé) and LI-11 (tài yuān).

Classic location: Moving upward from Yáng Ravine (LI-5), three cùn behind the wrist, located with the thumb and forefinger stretched out. (Yī Zōng Jīn Jiàn)

Local anatomy: The cephalic vein; on the radial side the lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve and the superficial ramus of the radial nerve. On the ulnar side, the posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve and the posterior antebrachial interosseous nerve.

Action: Regulates the waterways; frees the vessels and network vessels.

Modern indications: Red eyes; tinnitus; nosebleed; painful larynx; aching of the hand and arm; water swelling.

Classic indications: Loss of visual acuity; tinnitus; throat impediment (hóu bì); aching shoulder and upper arm; inhibited urination; water gǔ (drum distension); dry retching; swelling of the lateral region of the cheek; withdrawal disease with continual talking.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3‒5 cones; pole 5‒10 min.

Point groups: Network point (luò xué).
