Properties: Similar to hé huān pí (Albiziae Cortex).

Actions and indications: Hé huān huā is especially good at quieting the spirit and resolving depression. It treats vacuity vexation and insomnia, emotional depression, forgetfulness, and profuse dreaming. Two different products on the market are sold as hé huān huā. The official species is fluffy and downy; the other prominent species on the market is a dense, dried flower petal from the plant Magnolia coco (Lour.) DC. The latter is a substitute plant used in southern China that is commonly seen in Cantonese-owned herbal pharmacies in the West. It quiets the spirit and moves qì and blood.
Dosage and method: Oral: 5–10g. May be used alone or strengthened with the addition of other medicinals.
