Properties: Sweet; balanced.

Indications:
- Quiets the spirit and resolves depression: Anger, emotional depression, vexation and agitation, and insomnia.
- Quickens the blood and disperses swelling:
Injury from knocks and falls , bone fractures, blood stasis with swelling and pain, and toxin swelling ofsore s and welling-abscesses.
Dosage & Method: Oral: usually 10–15g, but up to 30g may be used. It is most commonly taken in decocted form but can be made into pills or powders and may also be used externally.
Quality: Thin barks with a sheen are best.
Product Area: Southern, south-westers, eastern, northern China, Manchuria, Héběi, Hénán, and Húběi.
