LR-9 Yīn Bladder
阴包 〔陰包〕 yīn bāo
Alternate names: 阴胞 yīn bāo, Yin Bladder

Modern location: An acupoint located on the medial aspect of the lower thigh, 4 cùn superior to the medial epicondyle of the femur, between the vastus medialis and the sartorius muscles.
Classical location: Four cùn above the knee, between the two sinews on the inner face of the thigh. The point is found with the leg flexed. From
Local anatomy: Deeper, on the lateral side, the femoral artery and vein, the superficial branch of the medial circumflex femoral artery. The anterior femoral cutaneous nerve, on the pathway of the anterior branch of the obturator nerve.
Action: Courses the liver and rectifies qì; adjusts the penetrating and controlling vessels; clears and disinhibits the lower burner.
Modern indications: Abdominal pain; enuresis; inhibited urination; menstrual irregularities.
Classical indications: Urinary incontinence; lumbar pain accompanied by smaller abdominal swelling.
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.6 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3‒7 cones; pole 5‒7 min.

The character 包 (bāo), meaning to wrap

may here be considered as a reference to either the urinary bladder or the uterus, disorders of which may be treated through this point, while 阴 (yīn) indicates the point’s position on a yīn channel. The alternate name for this point uses the character 胞 (bāo), which is the same as 包 but for the addition of the flesh radical (月 yuè) on the left, indicating that it is a body part. See
