Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bland, acrid, and bitter; cold (root).

Actions and indications: Clears heat and disinhibits dampness; quickens the blood and disperses swelling; resolves toxin. Treats loss of voice due to lung heat; strangury-turbidity (lìn zhuó); vaginal discharge; face cinnabar; lymphadenitis; dermatitis; toxin swelling of welling- and flat-abscesses (yōng jū).

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (30–60g). Topical: Apply crushed.
