Properties: Bitter and astringent; balanced.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and moistens the lung; constrains yīn and quiets the spirit; eliminates dampness; kills worms. Treats whooping cough; heart palpitation; insomnia; night sweating; seminal emission; scrofula; eczema; scab (jiè) and lichen (xiǎn).

Dosage and method: Topical: Apply crushed or decoct as a wash. Oral: Decoct (15–30g) or steep in wine.

Production area: Guǎngdōng, Guǎngxī, Fújiàn.
